Introduction:
The annual team showcase is an
opportunity for teams across South Florida, Region 6 based
on the Sterling Regional boundaries, to showcase quality
improvement successes. This annual showcase and competition
has turned into an exciting day where teams not only get to
experience the thrill of competition and recognition, but
also experience networking and learning. See the complete

What do we have to do?
If you and your team are interested in
entering the showcase, you will need:

A team with a completed team project showing
results and demonstrating quality tools and techniques.

To be available the day of the event for
rehearsals and an interview session with the judges.

To present at the Team Showcase on February
15th at the Signature Grand Hall in Davie.
If your team is selected as the winner
of the 2007 ASQ Team Excellence Showcase, your team will be
invited to compete in the 2007 Florida Sterling State Team
Showcase. A more detailed application will be required for
the 2007 Florida Sterling State Team Showcase.
Eligibility Requirements:
Any organization large or small,
service or manufacturing, health care or education, private
or public sector is eligible to sponsor a team. Teams will
consist of three to twelve members, including a team leader
and/or facilitator. Teams may be quality circles, task
teams, cross-functional, vendor/supplier, and process
improvement, leadership teams or innovation teams. Projects
submitted must demonstrate principles and techniques of
improving quality through team participation.
Definitions:
Problem
Solving Team/Project: The team was formed to resolve a
specific problem, the team focused on root cause(s) of the
problem and solutions to resolve the problem.
Improvement
and/or Innovation Team/Projects: The team was formed to
investigate improvements to an existing process or to
implement a new process, product or service; the team
focused on potential changes and courses of action to
improve and implement a new process, product or service.
Presentation Guidelines:
Presentation will not exceed 10
minutes. This is a strict guideline.
A minimum of three team members must
participate in the presentation.
Presentations must be in Microsoft
Power Point.
Music, videos, props, costumes and
other aids that help to support the presentation are
allowed.
Teams will
be notified where and when to submit their presentations,
but should have them ready by Feb. 1, 2008
Judging:
There are five slots available for this
team showcase. If the judging committee receives 5 or less
applications, then all applicants will compete in the
Showcase. If the judging committee receives over five
applications, the judges will review the applications and
select the five finalists. The applications will be judged
using the full Florida Sterling Team Showcase criteria which
is available on the following link: www.floridasterling.com.
Qualified Sterling Examiners, and other
quality management professionals, and area leaders in the
Region will be judges. Score sheets will be completed by
each judge and a consensus meeting will be held by the
judges prior to the Showcase to determine consensus scoring
levels for all criteria in categories 1-4. The written
application counts for 80 percent of the overall score. The
oral presentation given at the Showcase, counts for the
remaining 20 percent of the score.

The criteria is the same as for the
Florida Sterling Showcase and is reprinted on pages 3-5.

Application Directions:
Please complete your application by
addressing the following criteria. Your application cannot
exceed five pages. Provide one page explaining each of the
four criteria areas, and one extra page as a cover. A
template for completing the application is available in MS
PowerPoint as an attachment to this document. Please
consider using graphs and data on each of the pages to
illustrate critical points such as measurement systems,
indicators, tools and techniques used. This document should
be a five page executive overview of your project.
Page one:
Cover Page – This page
should include your team name, company name, team leader and
team member names as well as a project statement (problem
statement, objective with a statement of your indicator for
improvement.)
Page two:
Category 1: Project Selection and Purpose (11 items @ 2
points each = 22 points possible)
